Colorful Pixar Themed Elopement in Southern California Mountains. Idyllwild, CA | Sarah & Joe
Planning a wedding is stressful under normal circumstances, but 2020 has really thrown everyone for a loop. Sarah and Joe had planned an incredible, magical day at the most magical place on Earth. They spent months working on some incredible pieces for the big day, including a wood replica of the house from Pixar’s “Up”. Covid swooped in and quickly put a hold on all the incredible plans they had made. After multiple reschedules (the now all-too-familiar phrase that has been applied to every 2020 wedding) they decided to plan a get away to Idyllwild with Sarah’s parents to relax. As they started looking for cabins to rent for the weekend, they were like omg, we should just get married at one of these! And so they pivoted!
Idyllwild is a magical place and the mayor is a golden retriever named Max. Last year, my bffs Emily and Austin had a lil ceremony and party at a house in Idyllwild and it was totally perfect. When Sarah and Joe brought up Idyllwild, I knew it would definitely be just as magical as their original plans. We got my one of my fave florists and fairy godmother Tiny Victories to add a little extra pixie dust to everything.
Sarah and Joe have a perfect modern fairy tale! Sarah tells the short version of it as : “Joe and I met on OKCupid. I had been on the site for years with not much luck and he had been on for 7 days (lucky bastard). We've been together for four years and have 5 pups who are the very best friends and cuddlers. “ She also signed her initial inquiry “Also, Disney OR Harry Potter? How cruel! Signed, a Hufflepuff”, so I knew we were going to get along REALLY WELL. With all the madness of 2020, we never got to meet prior to the big day and it was so painful to not be able to hug each other!
Sarah and Joe, along with a few close family members and friends, all gathered at the Airbnb on a totally perfect day in the mountains of Southern California. Amazing details were worked into every corner of the day. The show stopping piece was a replica of the house from Pixar’s “Up” adorned with flowers and TONS of color. Just as important were all the small details, from the chairs adorning the top of the cake (again from “Up”, to the guitar from Pixar’s “Coco” that Sarah gave Joe on their originally planned wedding date. On top of the most beautifully written vows, they performed a song from “Coco” while all 4 dogs napped and champagne had been passed. Dinner was casual and perfect out on the deck as the sun started setting.
It was such a special and intimate day. Sarah and Joe are so so sweet together and have such an awesome crew of supporting friends and fam around them. It was just really good, magical vibes all day! Thank you guys so much for having me and I can NOT wait to see you at the most magical place on earth once it’s way, way WAY safe to do so.
Also, the more dogs at your wedding, the better. More animals always.
See ya real soon!
