Dreamy Winter Joshua Tree Desert Elopement. Joshua Tree National Park, CA | Ruth & Shawn

Wanna keep your actual wedding day simple and still have epic photos? Then I highly recommend following Ruth and Shawn’s lead! They opted for a simple and sweet courthouse wedding ceremony in Laguna Hills. About 20 friends and family members joined Ruth and Shawn in exchanging vows and offered lots of hugs, congrats and support. I’m such a big fan of courthouse weddings and think they are just so dang charming! This made it easy for friends and family to take part in their union in a simple, accessible way (one friend was there on her lunch break!) AND gave them the freedom to go wherever they wanted for epic wedding photos.

The next day we met up in the Palm Desert! Ruth and Shawn had spent the night honeymooning and wanted to head to Joshua Tree National Park for wedding photos. It was a brisk and windy day in the park and we had a blast exploring one of the most magical places ever. It was perfectly warm in the sun and chilly enough to encourage lots of snuggling. Any day in Joshua Tree is a good day and this national park certainly does not disappoint!

It’s important to note that photographing in Joshua Tree DOES require a permit! These can take at least two weeks to acquire, so it’s definitely important to plan ahead. You can check out more info about getting a photo permit for Joshua Tree on their website! Alternatively, there are also spots outside of the park that you can go, but honestly it’s worth it to be in the park! It truly is a magical place and has so many different landscapes.

Thanks for letting me be a part of your adventure Ruth and Shawn!
